Soon I plan to move with my 2 yrs old son from Calgary to Toronto.

In Calgary me and my son have Alberta Health Card.

Can I use in Toronto in first three months (while I'm waiting for OHIP card) my Alberta Health Card?

And my little son, too?

Thank You very much in advance,

Hello Antonia,

Thanks for sharing your question with us.

It is great that you are looking into this information before moving to Ontario.

You can find some information on the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care website in the Am I eligible for OHIP right away or do I have to wait? section. Here is an excerpt,

"If you are an eligible resident moving to Ontario from another part of Canada, the health insurance of your former province/territory may cover you during the waiting period."

You can also find information on the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan website in the What if I move? section. Here is an excerpt,

"Moving from Alberta to another province or territory within Canada

You are covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) for the balance of the month in which you leave, and for the next two consecutive months. This ensures continuous coverage until you are eligible for health insurance in your new location."

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
