I have applied for Canadian Citizenship in 2014 and passed the Citizenship test on July 30, 2015. I have been interviewed by the CIC officer right after the exam.

The officer said everything was fine with my documents but because there was a minor inconsistency between US Customs and Boarder Protection files and CBSA information I was sent form CIT 0520 and was asked to provide copies of all my passports pages. The copies have been provided and received by CIC in Ottawa on August 24, 2015. Surprisingly, I have received form CIT 0171 (sent next day - August 25, 2015) requesting the same (!!!) passport evidence along with mostly other evidences that have been previously provided with my initial application. I have doubts that Ottawa office have processed within one day the CIT 0520 and being not-satisfied sent the RQ right next day. Thus, I have two questions:

1. Does anyone has similar experience and what all this could mean?

2. Shall I really re-send the same evidences that have been provided with initial application and with the form CIT 0520?

All we can say is that it is important to try and remember and follow any instructions the officer gave you that day regarding what is required and what you will need to do.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

I have applied for Canadian Citizenship in 2011 and passed the Citizenship test on March 2013, I have been interviewed by the CIC officer before the exam and asked me to provide more information (RQ)for my residency in Canada which I did on March 2013.till date I didn't receive any update or an anything else.
45 months passed and I am still counting for my citizenship ,although the processing time for non routine applications ( RQ) is 36 month.

Hello Anna,

Thank you for your reply.

Here some updates.

I called to CIC and was told that indeed it looked like I was requested the RQ before the office has opened and had a chance to look at the documents already received a day before.

So, what is it - an intentional action (so the client's case could be no longer defied as routine application but become a "non-routine") or just a negligence?

Surprisingly, the agent over the phone did not know if I shall provide duplicate copies of the same documents or just mention in a new cover letter that such documents have been already sent in the past.

Do you know if CIC processing instructions say anything about duplication of the same paperwork?

Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for the update.

This is helpful to know.

Regarding your question,

Do you know if CIC processing instructions say anything about duplication of the same paperwork?

Unfortunately, CIC has removed almost all of their CIC CP - Citizenship Policy Operations Manuals.

Therefore, it is difficult to find detailed information related to the documentation and procedures for these type of applications.

We hope that others who have had a similar experience can share their suggestions with you.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
