Hello,

I want to seek some advice regarding sponsoring an undeclared child.

My husband went to Canada as a PR two years ago. He was single that time but we already have a child the time the application was processed. He did not declare me as his common-law partner as well as he did not declare our child as a dependent child.

Our child uses her father's surname. He came home in the Philippines last year and we got married in civil. Now he is about to sponsor me as his spouse.

Now our greatest dilemma is our child not being declared by him on his first application for PR. My question is, can I, being the mother of our child, able to declare her as a non-accompanying family member in my application?

Please do help me because we really want to settle in Canada as one family. It is difficult in my part, being a mother that she might be left behind here in the Philippines. She's a very bright girl and she excels in the in school I don't want that in a glimpse, she might lose her self esteem in case I woudn't be able to be at her side in the most crucial stage of her development.

Please help me.

Thanks.

Hi
I have a daughter before I married my wife. She was invited by her sister to relocate to Canada with d family. She was told not to include my daughter name as an dependant that it may lead to delay but now she know it was a lie and the local office have contacted her for some additional documents, she do not want to continue only on d ground that i inform CIC of my daughter. I was advice by a friend that informing CIC at this stage will lead to refusal. Please I need an advice if to and how to inform CIC

You'll need to provide more information.

How has your wife been sponsored to Canada by her sister? As a dependent in her parents' sponsorship application or through a different stream like a Provincial Nomination program?

What is your status in Canada if any? Are you included in your wife's application for PR?

Hi
Her sister put in for Manitoba provincial nominee and only me and her name was include on the form. After the approval we notify CIC of our new baby. But she want me to inform CIC now before PR is given to us if not we cannot sponsor her later on. Pls advice because a friend is saying don't inform but my wife said I most inform. Both of us are still in Nigeria.

You must add your new child to the application or you will never be able to sponsor your child for PR and bring your child to Canada. If you fail to add your child to your application now - you will also be committing misrepresentation which can result in your PR status being revoked. The only option is to add your child to the application.

1. You can't sponsor your daughter as you didn't declare her when you applied or when you "landed". So she is not a member of the family class. She can only submit an application under Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds under section 25(1). You would support the application. It doesn't matter that you didn't know that you had a dependent, she was still not declared.
