I sent in my PR card renewal application in September 2014.

After waiting for 4 months, I received an email from CIC today informing me that the preliminary review has been completed for my application and they have now referred my file for a secondary review and this will cause additional delay in processing time.

CIC call center was not able to give me revised time frame for issue of new PR card.

Does any one know how long it takes to get the card in a 'secondary review' situation.

Thanks

Hello RS,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us. We can appreciate that you would be concerned after waiting for 4 months already.

Unfortunately, we do not have any information regarding how long this process will take. We hope that others can share their experiences and comments with you.

We hope that someone will share their own timeline or ideas with you.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hi

I am in the similar situation, my application is sent for secondary review, based on what people are posting online, once the review is completed you will receive your card automatically, one user mentioned that his PR card arrived after 6weeks from the day he received this notice, so wait 4-6weeks, you should get yours unless CIC wants to play with our application

I wish I had an answer for you. Our situation is identical to yours. My wife applied in Sept 2014 for renewal. We received a notice that a letter had been sent January 23rd. Upon calling it was indicated that a second review will take place. No time frame provided. After querying several times as to its status the best we got out of CIC today was there is some doubt. Fine, tell us what that means. It has been over a month since the notification already. We are not able to travel and live in this world of unknown and uncertainty. What happened to the human factor of immigration? Very frustrating at how long this takes.

Hello All,
I checked with CIC call center today and was informed my file has been reviewed and it is complete and no additional documents are required but they cannot give any time frame within which I will receive my card. I wonder why CIC is not able to give any time frame after the file has been reviewed and no additional documents are required. Has anyone, participating in this discussion, received their card?

We are in the similar situation. My dad sent in his PR card renewal application in December 2014. In February 2015 my dad sent CIC additional documents and they were received (according to Canada Post). But in the file there is no any notes about that and Call Centre is not able to give any information what’s going on with my dad’s application except that is ‘in Process’.

It looks like this ‘secondary reviewing team’ is a Black Hole in CIC:
No one knows what’s going on there and even more, everyone is afraid to bother this team. Perhaps, ‘secondary reviewing team’ has some special secret mission and CIC should post some notes on their website, something like that:
“If your application has been taken for the secondary review, please do not bother us!”

Hi
I and my family are PR in canada since 3/2013 and we could not send enough time in canada since then ony one week in last April.

I planned to come to settle in Canada in March 2016 but for some out of hand reasons we could not. and by the end of April I had medical situation that stops every thing as I could not move and travel till now by the doctors order.

I am now waiting to get back on my feet and then go for my plan to settle in Canada with my family but this will be by August 2016 I hope and as my PR will expire 0n 5/2018 I think there will be a problem with my case when I enter Canada as I wont be able to fullfell the residency requirments(730 days).

Is there any thing I can do now or should I wait to be in canada?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Just want to share my situation regarding secondary review. I sent my application for renewal last year Nov.06, 2015. On Feb. 23, 2016 I received a correspondence letter from them saying they got my application. Feb.24, 2016 they started processing my application. On Mar.3, 2016 my application has been moved to secondary delay. I called them last month of September, but they advised me to just wait. It's going to be 1 year next month that I sent my application. Does anybody had the same situation like me, 11months and counting? I hope it wouldn't reach 13months processing.
