Hello everyone!
I just wanted to share with you something I recently learned whilst going through my citizenship test.
At my interview after the test (which I got 100%!), my passport was checked for stamps to prove the dates of my leaving and departing Canada, to ensure that I met the residency requirements- Which is fair enough.
However, when visiting my home country they never stamp my passport. I was then asked to prove all of my travel for the last 6 years by providing boarding passes!!!
It's not my fault Canada doesn't record people leaving and I have NEVER been asked to keep such evidence, verbally or in writing.
Thankfully when paying for a ticket in Canada with your credit card, the statement has the ticket number on it. Give this number to the airline and they should be able to give you copy tickets.

I want to know if you applied for citizenship on previous rules before June 11,2015 or after that according to new rules that requires 4 years out of 6 years residency?As you have stated they asked you to prove all your travel for last 6 years.
As I know in previous rules it is 3 years out of 4 years when you become eligible.
Further did you know they will ask you to show boarding cards and you obtained its copy at interview.That will increase my knowledge a lot.

Hi there!
I applied under the previous rules (I got my application in 3 weeks for they changed!)
I had no idea that they were going to ask for boarding passes/ tickets. I turned up for the test, did the test and thought I was home clear. Then at the interview directly after the test, was the first time in the WHOLE process that I was asked to prove my trips out of Canada to my home country. This is what I found to be very unfair. Who keeps their boarding passes for the last 6 years????
If at the very beginning I was told, or given written instruction, to hold onto all of my travel tickets, etc, then it would have been very different!!

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. my question is " were you eventually able to get some kind proof copy of boarding pass etc from the air or travel agent by referring you payment from the credit/debit card.

Hey,
I went through a similar situation during my citizenship interview.
CIC officer was concerned about an ONE day. She blamed me for not giving the 'true and correct' information to CIC application.
But, it was not my fault either - I hopped into the plane on 16.02. 2014, and in my home country they stamped as 15.02.2014 (it's their mistake stamping the wrong date).
Finally, I have to prove to the officer with my itinary from the airline.
Btw, thanks for publishing this sort of comments to general public ... rules are not in paper, but officers look for it.

Hi there,
I gave Air Canada the ticket numbers from my credit card statements and they sent me ticket copies by email within 2 days! I sent these off registered mail and have heard nothing back.
At this point I'm assuming that everything has been accepted, but who knows! I've had no form of communication either way. I'm now just waiting and hoping for my letter for the citizenship ceremony!! This usually comes just 1 month before it takes place, and as a person who travels a lot, this too is not very helpful! If I can't make it, do I have to wait another 6 months for a ceremony????
I've tried checking the status of my application online, and it says there is no application with my details.
I just wish they kept a person more informed of what is actually going on!
