Hi, my parents will turn 65 soon and they are Canadian Citizen 20 years ago. They lost their original landing paper, but found a photocopy version.
My question here is, is the landing paper document required when applying for OAS and get it approved? They are already Canadian citizen 20 years ago and been working and residing all this time.

Regarding your question,
My question here is, is the landing paper document required when applying for OAS and get it approved?
Specifically for the Old Age Security Pension - Information Sheet, it is requested that if you were born outside of Canada, that you provide a certified photocopy of either:
- Canadian Citizen - Certificate of Canadian Citizenship, Naturalization Certificate, or Canadian passport issued in 1970 or later;
- Permanent Resident (formerly known as Landed Immigrant) - Canadian immigration documents(for example IMM1000 - Record of Landing or Permanent Resident Card) or Canadian immigration stamp on your passport.
The Old Age Security Pension - Information Sheet application form also states,
If you no longer have your original immigration documents, Service Canada may be able to obtain information from Citizenship and Immigration Canada on your behalf. In order for Service Canada to obtain this information, you must complete, sign and return the Consent to Exchange Information with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (SC ISP-3210) with your OAS application. Please visit our internet site at: www.servicecanada.gc.ca or call us to obtain the form.
If you would like to have a Verification of Status document from CIC you can find some information on the the CIC Website in the Application for a Verification of Status (VOS) or Replacement of an Immigration Document (IMM 5545) section.
According to the Application for a Verification of Status (VOS) or Replacement of an Immigration Document (IMM 5545),
A Verification of Status document will contain information that appeared on your original Record of Landing, Confirmation of Permanent Residence, Work Permit, Study Permit or other immigration documents. This document can be used when you must provide proof of historical immigration information, such as the date and place of entry to Canada.

Note: The actual document itself will not be issued, instead a plain paper document will be issued that will provide information about your immigration history.
For additional information regarding applying for benefits, we suggest that it is best that you contact Service Canada directly.

I have my landed immigrant card. My passport, my citizenship ID. What I don't remember is the address I lived at 40 years ago. I ,of course know the provinces. Ontario, etc. I also know the dates roughly. Will this suffice when I apply for my OAS? Thankyou.

To the moderator,
My mother applied for her OAS and was sent a letter asking her to provide proof of entry (to Canada). She arrived in 1977. She has never left.
The documents listed as acceptable are:
- records from citizenship amd immigration canada.
(My mom came to Canada for medical services that her family paid for. She did not intend on staying here. So she did not apply for permanent residence staus when she landed. She became a permanent resident in 1981.
- certified photocopy of complete passport
(Are they looking for her passport from 1977? Because her current passport obviously doesnt have stamps from 1977)
- customs declaration
(She had nothing to declare)
- airline ticket
(Seriously... she doesnt have it)
- bus ticket
(Seriously... she doesnt have it)
- ship ticket
(Seriously... she doesnt have it)
Pleae help. What documents can we give them to satisfy this witchhunt?
