Hi all,

Our family landed in Canada on Dec 12, 2015 as permanent residents. We had to return to our current country of residence after a few days and gave our friend's address in Toronto as our mailing address for the PR cards. It has been 8 weeks and we still haven't received our PR cards. I have sent an email inquiry to CIC this week (no response yet). My husband needs to travel back to Canada in March so we are considering of requesting for the travel document.

I have reviewed the forms and procedure on CIC site, but it is unclear to me how long it takes to get the travel document processed by CIC? Will they require my husband's passport for issuing the travel document on it?

Would really appreciate some insight on this matter. TIA!

It's too early to be expecting your PR cards. Current processing times are sitting at around 75 days and that doesn't factor in mailing. There is no point calling or contacting CIC regarding this issue. Your cards aren't late.

Travel document processing times vary from country to country. I would count on a week processing time minimum. Yes - they will need his passport.

Thanks! We actually received our PR cards yesterday (after 61 days) so no need for the travel document!

Hello! I just have a question regarding my husband's pr travel document application. My husband, 3 children and I visited Philippines this Feb. 2 2018 and was bound to all go back to Toronto Canada on March 5 2018. My 3 children and I are all Canadian Citizen except for my husband who is still a Filipino Citizen but is a Landed Immigrant in Canada(Permanent Resident) and hasn't left the country for 22 years.

Upon going on this vacation, we had processed his application for his PR card but we know it might not come on time. We were advise by an agent with the CIC OFFICE that my husband can still travel to the Philippines and get back to Canada no problem with just a PR travel document at hand and that we should apply as soon as we get there because it doesn't take very long to be processed (2 weeks max). And so that is what we did...as soon as we got to the Philippines we went to Manilla a few days later to apply for the travel document. We had submitted all required documents listed on the checklist of the application to show proof that he has been living in Canada for more than 5 years. Documents for my husband, myself and 3 children were all handed in and even documents dating back 10+ years we gave it to them. In addition to paying the $50 online fee we also paid almost $2000 pesos extra for processing and getting the documents mailed to us in our hometown of Batangas.

We were told that we should received the documents within 3-5 business days via mail. 1 day later after submitting the application we received an email giving us our tracking id #...we were hoping that we would receive his passport and travel document within a week...but days went by and still the status of the application online still says processing and that we should call the VFS office to get further information. Days past by and still nothing...I started calling the office every single day to get updates and all they can tell me was that Canadian embassy in Manilla still has his papers and passport.

So I email the immigration office to ask for updates. Everyday i would call and email until weeks past by and still nothing...it was nearing our date to go back to Canada...finally i got an email on Feb. 28 2018 from the immigration asking us to give more documents to prove his been in Canada for more than 732 days. So the very next day we quickly went back to the vfs office to submit more documents. Days later still nothing...March 5 came...my 3 children and myself had to travel back to Canada without my husband.

Days later immigration emailed us since again asking for my husband to submit more documents before march 14 for his application to be processed completely. He had to go back and forth several times to Batangas and Manilla just to give all the documents we have on hand to prove that he has been in the Canada for at least 5 years. My husband who hasn't left the country of Canada for 22 years since he immigrated back in 1995 and has been filing his income tax every year since still has a problem proving his been in the country for the past 5 years.

My daughters who are 13 and 9 years old and our son who is 7 years old...all present for their births as stated on birth certificate because he signed it is still having problems getting a travel document back to Canada. Is there any mediator who can tell me who we can talk to, see or do for his application to be processed faster. He was scheduled to go back with us on March 5 2018..it is now March 9 2018 and still nothing..no answer from them VFS or the Canadian Embassy regarding his PR Travel Document and his passport.

Please help us!!!!! My children and I need my husband back as soon as possible because he is the sole provider of our family.
