Question about Canadian Passport - Foreign Country

Hi.
Is it legitimate (from the perspective of Canadian law) and safe to submit a copy of a Canadian passport to foreign authorities?
A foreign government is going to keep this copy indefinitely for the purpose of your registration as a dual citizen.

According to the Passport Canada (CIC) Call Centre, it is very important that you contact the foreign authorities or consulate of the country you are interested in getting dual citizenship from directly in order to confirm if this is a genuine requirement or part of their normal procedure.
The Passport Canada (CIC) Call Centre agent stated that this is very important information to confirm because of the nature of the information contained in your passport.
They also stated that it is very important to confirm that you are not dealing with an intermediary company where it is difficult to confirm whether or not they are legitimate.
We suggest that you contact the Passport Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly to confirm this information and for additional information.

Hi All,
I have one question about my friend who is living in Calgary, Canada as Permanent residence. He is having 2 kids one born in India and 2nd born in Calgary Canada. Last year he travelled to India on one marriage and they left their kids in India because they had to come again India on 2nd marriage with in 6 month. Due to some reason marriage was delayed and they are going India after 11 month and same time they will bring their both kids.
My question is about their 2nd child born in Canada. is there any rule their 2nd child have to come back in Canada with in One Year. Actually they are coming back with in year but just wanted to confirm. And 2nd child having India OCI Card. Please reply we will be very thankful for this.
