I have one question related to moving to another province.
Currently I'm on Ontario Works.
When I move to another province can I immediately apply for welfare until I hopefully find a job?

Hello Idris,

Thanks for sharing your situation and question with us.

As you already know, one of the eligibility requirements for getting help from Ontario Works is that you live in Ontario. If you move to another province, you will no longer be eligible for Ontario Works.

You will need to tell your case officer when you are moving to another province. You can get a list of Ontario Works offices here.

You may want to talk to your case officer to let them know of the situation and see if they can provide you with some information regarding social assistance that is related to the other province.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
