While C24 with new amendments passed in June of 2014 your current website (Last Updated: July 11, 2014) still says that persons over 54 are exempt from the language skills and knowledge test.

I thought on of the amendments raised that age to 64?

Which is it and when will the new requirements be in effect?

Hello Abeller,

Thank you for sharing your question with us.

We have had several others share their questions and concerns regarding the changes.

We have not made any changes to the content related to the Canadian citizenship requirements you are referring to because they have not been enacted yet.

According to several CIC representatives, it is likely those aspects will come into force by July 2015.

You may also note that on the CIC website, the eligibility requirements are still the same.

You can find some information in one of our previous Settlement.Org Important: Act to Amend the Citizenship Act discussion thread.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
