Good day!

I'm a permanent resident of Canada, but I haven't received my permanent resident (PR) card because I just arrived in Canada last Oct. 1, 2014.

I checked the application status online, but my PR card status is not included in the list of my applications. Is there another way that I can check the status of my PR card?

Because after the immigration officer interviewed me when I first arrived in Toronto on Oct., he said that my PR card will be mailed to me after 3 months. However, I checked online, specifically at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp and it states that it will just take 21 calendar days to process it for the PR card of a new permanent resident.

Accordingly, I want to know what is the correct waiting time for my PR card because I really need to go back to Canada and the airlines would not accommodate me if I do not possess my PR card.

Thank you very much!

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be concerned about the whereabouts of your PR card.

It may be best for you to contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly.

You mentioned that you really need to come back to Canada. If you are outside Canada, you may also be able to contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre. We have had some of our users previously state that they have been able to contact CIC from abroad by dialing 1 613 944 4000. Listen to the options to get to CIC.

Please note though that some have reported that it did not work for them or that it is no longer working.

You may want to give it a try.

If you do decide to call, let us know the outcome.

Long distance charges will apply.

If you need to return to Canada immediately and still have not received your PR card, you may have to apply for a you may have to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) in order to return to Canada.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

1. Yes he can either mail/courier/or carry it for you. If he is carrying it, you better give him a letter authorizing him.

Hello all,
My husband has gone to Canada on FSW visa(PR visa) on 15th August, 2014. He has still not received his PR card. It is nearing 6 months after his landing. On CIC website they have given processing time as 44 calendar days..It is already past that. Kindly let me know when can he get his card. How much more delay can happen. Can he sponsor his wife without the PR card?
