Start Process to Immigrate to Canada - Should We?

Hi,
I'm at the point of deciding if I should start or not the complete process of trying to immigrate to Canada. I have a career, I can speak fluent English and a family.
How real are the promises Immigration Offices make, I have read the article (8 reason Why Not to Immigrate) and now I'm more confused and disappointed.
I live in Mexico and have a family but not sure if I should try moving to Canada.
I was hoping during this process I could find a job and in a year I could move permanent there.
I know this topic musst be quite analized but just wanted to get fresh advises,
Is it true, there are not good jobs for immigrants?
All advises and tips you can give us are really appreciated.
