Hey Everyone,
I'm a Canadian, and mailed in my application for sponsorship in October 2015 and haven't received anything in the mail since. Should I be getting something once they start the application ?

Thanks for sharing your question and situation with us. We can appreciate that this is a confusing situation.
The current processing time for applications for spouses living outside Canada is 17 months. For applications where spouses are in Canada the timeline is currently 25 months. These times are based on completed application packages and they do vary depending on how many applications CIC receives.
If it has been longer than the time shown since you applied, and you need more information concerning the status of your application, use the Case Specific Enquiry form.
You may want to contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre for more information and the to confirm the information provided above.

Hi, I understand your frustration. We have a similar situation. We mailed our application from Toronto to Missisauga on September 1st. According to the tracking number, the package was received on September 2, 2015. We haven't heard from CIC or CPC since then. No e-mails, no acknowledgement of receipt. Today (February 25, 2016) I managed to reach out CIC over phone. They told me that they are currently sending out the acknowledgement of receipt letters for applications received on September 24, 2015. So in your case, your package hasn't been opened yet. Also, they told me that "there is nothing to worry about, if you haven't received a letter or an e-mail from them, this happens". The sponsored person can tell them his/her UCI number (it's on your immigration document). In my case they confirmed over phone that my package is in the system now.
So wait for a few weeks and call them. Good luck!
