Hi,

My wife is a canadian citizen and i have P.R and we have just had a baby boy and want to come to Canada for him to meet the rest of his family.

We are living outside Canada at the moment and want to know what we need to do for healthcare for our son and myself while we are there for the month that we are visiting family.

We are flying into Canada on the 14th of June

Hello,

Thank you for sharing this situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.

Unfortunately, as you may know, in order to be eligible for Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), your principal home should be in Ontario and you are in Ontario for at least 153 days in any 12-month period.

If you do not meet these requirements, you may want to look into other coverage for the time you are in Canada.

You may want to look into different kinds of Travel Insurance available.

You can find some information in our Settlement.Org What kind of personal insurance can I get? article.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
