Open work permit under inland sponsorship program

Hi,
I plan to apply for spousal sponsorship and an open work permit under the pilot sponsorship program.
I understand the sponsorship can take over 2 years to process but what about the open work permit submitted with it?
Will CIC separate the two applications and provide a work permit sooner?
How long will that work permit be valid?
Is there any word on potential extension of the program beyond 2016?
