How Long Do We Have To Wait?

Greetings,
We are family of 3 (2 children and myself). We arrived in October 2016 from a designated country.
Our hearing date was postponed due to delay in security check.
How long should we wait to receive a new date for the hearing.
Also, I'm not able to apply for a work permit or SIN due to this fact.
Any suggestions?
