Hi
Is it allowed to apply for PRTD more than once? I am doing my residency landing in October 2017, but not moving to Canada until summer 2018. So my PR card will be at friend's address in Toronto, but I will need to make the following entries into Canada before I can collect it:
December 2017 - travel for pre-booked ski trip (B.C.)
Summer 2018: Arrival for residency

So I will need 2 x PRTD (1 for each of these entries)... Assuming that I can't travel as a visitor with British passport and ETA once I become a PR?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

According to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Call Centre, there is no minimum or maximum times that you can apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document .

They did state that you may need to provide an explanation regarding the situation, including whereabouts of your PR card and why you are unable to use your PR card.

Additionally, they recommended that once it is received at your friend's address, that they keep it in a secure location for you.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hi,

I recently became a permanent resident, and will not get my PR card before I travel to India this year. I have a few questions related to the Permanent Resident Travel Document:
1. I will be getting legally married in Canada on 4th November, and applying for a Travel Document in India on 8th November. For the marital status section in the application document, should I put engaged or married? If they do a background check, I won't show up as married in the system, as it takes a while for the marriage to get registered and I will not have my marriage license when I apply.
2. In the application document, they are asking for "the number on your record of landing, confirmation of permanent residence or PR card". For the confirmation of permanent residence, would this be the document number, UCI or application number? (there are three numbers on the document).
3. I'm required to show two pieces of proof that show my PR status in Canada. Apart from the confirmation of permanent residence, what else can I provide? Would the single entry visa for landing on my passport be okay?
4. Since it has been less than 5 years since I got my PR, how can I prove that I will be able to satisfy the requirement of living for 730 days in 5 years after I became a PR? Would a proof of employment letter from my current employer be sufficient?
5. The document checklist is asking for documents for 5 years before the application for proof of meeting the residency obligation, but if I became a permanent resident this year, do I only have to provide documents after the date I became a PR?

I also have similar query.

We have applied for Permanent Residence (2 applicants) from Canada as CEC Inland applicant. Currently we have sent our passports to Ottawa CPC for Landing VISA and if everything stays alright, we are expecting to complete the landing formalities ASAP.

However, I have a travel plan to India on urgent basis soon after landing. Since it will take times to receive my PR Card and I will not get it before travel, I am thinking about applying for Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) for returning to Canada (via air). While checking IMM5524E form, I have the following query regarding RESIDENCY OBLIGATION section:

I am working in Canada for last 3 years and residing on Ontario since September, 2014, which is more than 1000 days. However, all this time I spend as a Closed Work Permit holder. Now if I apply for PRTD after becoming Permanent Resident (expectantly this month end or November), does this then meet the required Residency Obligation as specified in this form.

Kindly help me in this regards.
