Hello

How do I show proof of funding for my one year program at point of entry when the maximum amount allowed else be declared is $10,000CAD

I have already paid tuition for 1 semester of my 2semesters (1year) programs. From what Ive gathered, my required funding = tuition + funding for myself for 1yr (approx 10-12k CAD)

I don't have a Canadian bank account yet as am landing this fall for my program. So kindly advice if I should land with part of my required 1yr funding (maybe 6-9k CAD since it's less than 10k) or a way I can come in with 12k

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

You can find some information regarding this in our Settlement.Org How do I bring money into Canada (proof of funds)? article.

The $10,000 CAD is not a limit as to how much you can bring into Canada.

If you bring more than C$10,000 (or the equivalent in another currency) per family or as single traveller into Canada, you must declare the amount when you arrive.

You may want to contact the Border Information Service (BIS) for some additional information.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
