Hi there,
I am in University in the States, and I was wondering.

If I hold an American License for 12 months+ and I want to get an Ontario Drivers License, do I have to be a resident in Ontario or can i still live in the US.

Do i have to show proof of a Canadian Address or can i just get one from my US address?
Thank You.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.

You can find some detailed information in our Settlement.Org I have a driver's licence from another country. How do I get an Ontario driver's licence? article.

It is important to note that if you decide to get an Ontario Drivers' licence, this means you must exchange your American drivers' licence.

You can find some information related to the type of documents that are required on the DriveTest website in the Acceptable Identity Documents section.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
