Canadian Child Benefit - Child Not Living With Me

orangeville Posts: 3 Posted On: 5/2/2018	orangeville Posts: 3 Hello everyone My ex-wife left the country a year ago with my two daughters 5 and 7 y.o. She's contacting me asking if she is still entitled to receive Canada child benefits for the kids. Is she entitled even though she is abroad? I haven't find specific info for this case. Thanks in advance for any info.

It states, Are you eligible?To be eligible for the Canada child benefit (CCB), you must meet all of the following conditions: You must live with the child, and the child must be under 18 years of age. You must be primarily responsible for the care and upbringing of the child. You must be a resident of Canada for tax purposes. You or your spouse or common-law partner must be: a Canadian citizen a permanent resident a protected person a temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the previous 18 months, and who has a valid permit in the 19th month an Indian within the meaning of the Indian Act As you can see, some of the requirements are that you must be a resident of Canada for tax purposes, must live with the child and be primarily responsible for the care and upbringing of the child.
