Hello all

Someone had posted a question regarding a frustrating situation where the name on CC card is different from all other documents.

My parents had added an extra "a" in my name and now that way of spelling my name has been transposed onto my CC card and DL.

My pp shows my name the way I prefer it as does my provincial health card. It is so frustrating I don't know what to do.

I've been here since 1974 and have the old version of the CC card.

I recall seeing a post similar to this when I was searching what to do.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing our situation and question with us.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website states that,

In the case where a citizen requests a name change (based on a legal change of name) after the citizenship ceremony, a proof application will have to be submitted with the appropriate processing fee.

You may want to contact the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Call Centre directly for some information specific to your situation.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
