Hello,

I would like to sponsor my parents in parental sponsorship program on next year Jan 2019. I know to have minimum income for past 3 years 2015,2016,2017.

I am married on 2016 so I was single on year 2015.

My question is when I apply on Jan 2019, do we need to calculate my and wife combine income from 2015 or 2016? As I am married on 2016 but can we combine my and spouse Income from 2015,2016,2017 to meet income requirements?

Please let me know as they didnt say we have to married for last 3 year in order to show combine income for past 3 years.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

You can find some detailed information on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website in the Guide 5772 - Application to Sponsor Parents and Grandparents section.

You can find specific information related to Question 17. The Guide suggest that you must provide your co-signer’s employment history, including, periods of unemployment for the last THREE consecutive taxation years preceding your application.

You may want to contact the IRCC Call Centre directly at 1-888-242-2100 (In Canada Only)

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
