Hello,

I have received my passport with the confirmation of Permanent Residence. I am gonna apply for PR card, just after that I am going back home for some months. Can my brother send my PR card via courier service or can he bring it to back home because he is also planning to visit family.

is it a legal process?

regards,

Amar

Hello Amar,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this.

Based on what we have heard from IRCC and other users, there are some mixed messages regarding this issue.

The information we have received previously from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is that no, it is not illegal to send it via a secure method or with someone else. However, they stated that there exists the possibility that it be seized if found.

In both cases, the outcomes be problematic.

Unfortunately, this is all the information we have regarding this.

You may also want to contact a lawyer who is familiar with Canadian Immigration issues for some additional information.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
