Hello,

I came from Jordan as Government Sponsor Refugee on Jan-10-2016. I am PR since Jan-10-2016. I did not leave Canada since that time.
I lived in Jordan from Sep-12-2012 till Jan-10-2016.

Now I want to apply for the Citizenship.

My question is:

Should I provide a Security Clarence Certificate from Jordan for the time I have lived there?

Thank you for your help

Hello Mustafa,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this.

It is important that you review the Document Checklist. There it provides detailed instruction regarding what is needed and from which countries you must provide a police certificate or security clearance.

You may want to contact the IRCC Call Centre to speak to a representative for some additional information.

You may also want to contact a lawyer who is familiar with Canadian Immigration issues for some additional information.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hello,

If you check the Canadian citizenship application form(CIT002), section 10 - b ; you will see a Note that says: "If you were in your country of origin immediately prior of becoming permanent resident and landing in Canada and this time falls within the four years period, YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED to provide a police certificate"
You can always call IRCC call centre to confirm the information.
Have a nice day.

Hi,

Do I need a Police check if I was in my home country more than 183 days in a row during four years before applying for Canadian Citizenship?

Hello Tahereh,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.

You can find some detailed information regarding this on the CIT 0007 E : Document Checklist - Application for Canadian Citizenship Under Subsection 5(1) Adult (18 years of age or older). It states,

A police certificate must be provided from each country, outside of Canada, where you were present (since you were age 18) for a total of 183 days or more in a row in the four (4) years immediately before the date of your application.

You may also want to contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) directly at:

1-888-242-2100 (In Canada Only)

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
