Lanlord ask for family picture during application

Hi,
I am applying for a rental house in Richmond Hill Ontario and the agent told us to join a family picture when we sign the application for the house. I am very surprised. This is the 1st time I heard something like that.
Could a landlord ask this kind of question?

Hello,
My husband and I applied to rent a house in Brampton. We submitted credit report/scores, job letters each, 2 pay stubs each, 4 referrals and filled out the 401K application. We met in person at the property then after submitted the first and last rent payments.
The following day, we were asked to send driver's license, previous rental payment history and bank statements yet we still haven't received a lease document to sign from the landlord.
Is this landlord asking for too much? Can we refuse to show our bank statements especially after they confirmed our referrals and contacted our employment offices? It feels very invasive.

Many landlords will ask you to complete an application form before they will rent an apartment or house to you. Sometimes, rental application forms contain very sensitive questions, such as a bank account number, proof of income and more.
