PR Card Renewal Questions

user
user
Hi.

Regarding PR renewal, the CIC site does not have any case specific information. Since it takes a while for the renewal process can I apply for the renewal now even though I complete the minimum stay only in Feb 2015?

My card expired in Oct 2013 but since I am physically present it is OK. Also, I need the renewal receipt for my passport renewal which expired in June.

Please tell me who should I contact for this specific inquiry?

Thanks.

I am planning a trip to the US next summer and was wondering if only my PR card can be used.

If not, what can I do to get there?

I am also travelling by land and would be there for maybe a couple of weeks or a month.

Thanks in advance

Have not Received My PR card Yet

user

Good day!

I'm a permanent resident of Canada, but I haven't received my permanent resident (PR) card because I just arrived in Canada last Oct. 1, 2014.

I checked the application status online, but my PR card status is not included in the list of my applications. Is there another way that I can check the status of my PR card?

Because after the immigration officer interviewed me when I first arrived in Toronto on Oct., he said that my PR card will be mailed to me after 3 months. However, I checked online, specifically at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp and it states that it will just take 21 calendar days to process it for the PR card of a new permanent resident.

Accordingly, I want to know what is the correct waiting time for my PR card because I really need to go back to Canada and the airlines would not accommodate me if I do not possess my PR card.

Thank you very much!

Now a Citizen - Mistake on my Application

user
user
Hi there,

I filled out my citizen application in 2002 and since then became a citizen. I had kept copies of my application, and recently I was going through all old paper work to see what I can throw away. I noticed on my application that I made an error under marital status. It says married when i was suppose to mark off never married.

Do I need to correct this with immigration?

Will this cause a problem for me if I want to get married in the future?

Some Tips for Applying for Citizenship

user
user
I would like to warn any would-be applicants for Canadian Citizenship they absolutely comprehensibly must keep at the ready:

- A full record of their travel outside the country complete with purchase receipts on either side of their trips
- All pay stubs, Records Of Employment,
- Complete tax returns (including all schedules), “T” slips of any kind
- Any and all records of any of foreign income, and any asset of property and assets tangible and intangible outside of Canada
- All bank records, statements and credit card statements
- Any and all receipts for business
- Any signed document, contracts, agreements or receipts
- Records, notices, newspaper articles of any civic or non-profit participation

Be prepared for CIC to ask for the above information outside of your qualification period.

Please know CIC will not take your word for anything (which is understandable) and that they must operate on “proof” from outside sources.

However understand they seem especially crippled by an inability to make a simple phone call to verify a claim or test someone’s statement of fact. The burden’s on you – and it can be substantial.

Prepare to be under the microscope and have your integrity challenged in your in-person interview!

Be prepared to be confronted with an assumption of un-met expectations of which you may know nothing about.

Finally, your “Permanent Resident Card” is not permanent and must be renewed. All travel outside the country must be documented.

Questions about In-Canada Sponsorship Timeline

user
user
Hi,

We are concerned about our timeline.

We submit our application to sponsor my spouse from within Canada in April 2014.

We received a letter in August 2014 to state that CIC had received our application.

We have not heard anything since then and we cannot access anything about the status through the online system or the call centre.

Tried to call the CIC Call Centre and the call was terminated.

Does anyone know if this timeline sounds normal or would it seem like there is a problem?

Does anyone else have a similar timeline? Have you heard anything?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I want to visit my origin country.

I am a permanent resident since 27th March 2014.

Please tell me if there are any restriction regarding the time spent in Canada after I first came and if I need a Canadian visa again or my Permanent Resident Card will be enough to reenter Canada.

I heard from unofficial sources that I am not allowed to leave the country (Canada) for 1 year.

Please tell me how it works.

Thank you

Employer Refuses to provide ROE and T4

user
user
Hello,

I worked for a company last year. I had two shifts in the span of two weeks. Then my employment was terminated.

I was to be paid by cheque for work at the end of the Month.

The company said that I was a contract worker but the CRA has stated otherwise.

The employer did not issue my ROE form back in November 2014.

After numerous emails and phone calls regarding my ROE form and still not received anything.

I was told by them that they have 21 days[till mid Feb 2015 to submit the ROE form.

What should I do as the deadline is approaching and I feel that they are not going to provide it to me.

By the end of Feb/2015 they are supposed to give me a T-4. I do not think that they will.

I was told if I don't get it by mid February to call Service Canada and they will issue out another letter.

Should I proceed with getting legal advice if my former employer is not cooperating?

Please advise.

Thanks
