1/11/2016 Topic: Ontario Works Rates for New Refugees - Questions user	Dear Settlement.org I am writing to you today to see if you would be able to help me with a problem. I am writing on behalf of my partner A*, who was just recently granted refugee protection in December. A* Was staying with friends in Owen Sound before his refugee hearing, but now he lives with me in **** Ontario. A* has received his Ontario ID card, and has applied for a workers permit. In the meantime as A* waits for his work permit to be approved, he needs some sort of financial aid from the Canadian Government. I am currently on financial aid myself for starting my own small business through the Ontario Works program. Last week I had a visit with my Ontario Works advisor, who added A* onto my financial aid plan as my spouse. Strangely A* was only granted $165 per month, but in our research we discovered that A* should be receiving at least $400 on his own. Unless we are totally wrong? Would you know if this $165 amount is correct for new refugees in Canada? I understand there are different factors involved with each case. For example A* doesn’t and won’t be paying rent until he finds a job. Do you know of any other funds A* may be entitled to as a new refugee? If he does have access to more funding would you know who and where we should contact? Any help would be most welcomed. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. Sincerely CJ

3/31/2016 Topic: Landing & Leaving - Jeopardize our Status? user	Hi there, My family and I are Permanent Residents of Canada. I am the principal applicant. We landed last March 24, 2016. However, I am still intending to leave Canada to finish off my work outside Canada and settle our properties there (my wife and my child will remain in Canada). So I will be outside Canada from April 2016 to January 2017 (9 months). After then, I will permanently reside and work in Toronto. My questions are: (a) Will living outside of Canada for 9 months after just a short landing jeopardize my PR and my intended citizenship? (b) Will my child still receive child care benefit even if I (the principal) live outside of Canada? Would appreciate your feedback. Thanks,

3/31/2016 Topic: Validating my Marriage performed Outside Canada user	Hi there I have a question regarding my marriage that I just did abroad. I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is a from another country. We proforemed the marriage at the city hall in her home country and my affidavit and passport photocopy signed by a witnessing lawyer was approved by the Canadian embassy in that country. I would like to know if I need to get any paper work here done to certificate that my marriage is real. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

But I don't know what forms I need to fill out in order to bring her to Canada as a permanent residence. So can you please tell me how to get the right forms? I returned to Canada on 2001 and then left again. If I want to return and settle in Toronto, How can I sponsor my conjugal partner to arrive with no issues? Because If both are living in the same city, outside Canada, I am not sure how to apply for the family sponsorship program. Thanks in advance for an answer.
