Can my friend courier my PR card to me abroad?

I just landed on the 14th of July to activate my PR but I only have a month to spare. I am considering having my friend send my card via fedex or DHL to Australia and my question is wether it is illegal under the law to do so?
If it get lost what is my legal remedy?
Alternatively if I apply for travel document is it gurranted that Ii will get it? |
