How can I extend my Study Permit?

My passport is due to expire in August 2014 and so also is my study permit, but the issue at hand is that the Nigerian embassy has suspended the issuing of passport until further notice due to administrative reconstructing currently going on in the passport section of the Nigeria High Commission Ottawa.
How go I go about it to be given a little more time till the Nigerian embassy starts issuing passports again concerning my study permit extension as I was told by the Nigerian High Commission?
Do I send a letter to the Canadian Immigration stating my status with the necessary documents like proof of financial availability and letter from my institution to backup it up or what is required of me to do next? |
