Topic:
Residency Requirements Not Met -Renounce? Reapply?

Hello everyone;

I work overseas for about 7 years now while my family still in Canada and they all have Canadian Citizenship.

My PR card is about to expire in 2 months and I did not finish the 730 days residency requirement before I can apply again for PR card renewal. so I'm considering renouncing my PR status and stay outside Canada for now, then apply again for immigration (My wife or sons can sponsorship me) after I lose my PR status.

Is there any law or rules that prohibit doing this?

I would like to know if I would face any problems in the future when I apply for sponsorship application knowing that I use to have PR card and I have renounced it.?

I did contact immigration consultant and she told me that you can't apply again because I was given the opportunity and I lost it. But then when I called CIC telephone service and asked about this, they said there is no such law and it all depends if you meet the requirements that is all.

Your answers are highly appreciated.

Thanks
