Hello,

I'm married to a Canadian citizen, we send the
application of Sponsorship (by him) and Permanent Residence
in Sep 2010., In May of 2011 we received a letter of CIC saying that my sponsorship app was approved and another letter saying that I meet the requirement to apply for PR status but that I had to send some other papers for the decision to be made, we send the remaning requirements.
Now we are only waiting for their answer.

I wanted to know if at the moment I have any status in Canada and if I can travel outside Canada and come back and how long will take for us to know the decision of CIC.

Before I entered Canada, I had a multiple entry visa that is still valid , could I use that visa to go abroad and come back, or there will be a problem when I try to re-enter Canada?? or that visa is invalid because I already applied for my PR status??

Thanks! hope not to bother with so many questions.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Ana.

Hi I have a similar problem. My daughter had sponsored me and my wife. We intent to travel soon to Toronto. I can not stay more than 15 days as I am working. My wife will stay back for 3 months. I suppose the PR card will be delivered to my daughter's address as we are going to provide the same to immigration officer at Toronto Airport. I intent to leave on 15th day after our arrival. My wife will collect both the PR cards and bring them along with her to me where ever I am. Can somebody help me to answer if this arrangement is legally okay or there is any error in our thinking? I hope dear moderator can also give his suggestion to guide us.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be concerned about this.

As stated above, the information we have received from Citizenship and Immigration is that no, it is not illegal to send it via a secure method or with someone else. However, they stated that there exists the possibility that it be seized if found.

Unfortunately, this is all the information we have regarding this.

You may want to contact the IRCC Call Centre to speak to a representative for some additional information.

You may also want to contact a lawyer who is familiar with Canadian Immigration issues for some additional information.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
