I got the PR under federal scheme and my family also got the same because of me as dependants.

If I surrender my PR and go back to my country, does the PR of my family also get cancelled and they have to go back also?

Hello Narinder,

Thank you for sharing your question with us.

According to CIC, if you have received your PR through the Skilled Worker category, as long as your family maintains their own requirements, they will maintain their PR status even if you lose your residency. There are different requirements for those who have applied under the Investor category.

You can find some information on how to maintain residency requirements in our Settlement.Org What are the residency requirements for permanent residents (PRs)? article.

You may want to contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly for some additional information.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
