Hello,
I've been hearing and reading all kinds of things and just want to make sure I have the right information before taking any actions. I was studying in Toronto last year and now am on my 1-year post graduate open work permit. I got married to my husband (Canadian) in February 2014 and applied for sponsorship in March. As expected, I haven't heard anything from CIC and my work permit will expire in October. I'm on a contract position now and I'm not sure if I have to stop working or I can continue to work until I hear from CIC about the sponsorship application. I've applied from within Canada.
Thank you very much. Any clear answer is very welcome.

Hello PK,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
You may be able to find some helpful information on the CIC Website in the Can I keep working if my permit expires? section.
We also suggest that since you are currently in Canada, it is best if you contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly for information specific to your situation.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
