I am a Canadian PR living in Canada. PR was obtained using my original passport. If I changed my citizenship and obtain new passport , what will be the status of my Canadian PR ? Can I still renew my PR having changed my citizenship from the original one that I used to obtain PR ?

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

It is a very interesting question.

According to several CIC representatives, since the PR card states nationality, if in fact you have changed your citizenship, it is possible that there may be some difficulties with your PR card renewal process.

We suggest that you may want to contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly for some information specific to your situation and to find out how to proceed.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
