Hello Folks.
My wife has recently passed away. She had emigrated to Canada from the Philippines, along with her two children (who became my stepchildren), as my spouse, about 6 years ago. I am now sole parent for one stepchild, 14, and one dependant (not sure what the proper term is here) 18 years of age. During the last few months of my wife's illness, we had her sister, the children's aunt, come to Canada from the Philippines, and help care for my wife. She is here under a TRV, and will be going home in November. We are very thankful, it has been a huge help for us.
The girls are 14 and 18 years old and are now Canadian citizens. I am a Canadian citizen, born in Canada.
The aunt has decided that she would like to be, and that the girls need to have her, directly involved in their upbringing. We would like to explore opportunities to bring here back on a PRV, so that she might live / work in Canada, and provide the care / support that these two young ladies need to continue their success in life.
The aunt is: Single, never married No children 4 year university degree Healthy, English speaking.
The girls have no other relatives in Canada, except for a distant relative, 3rd cousin.
Question is, are we able to sponsor the Aunt?
We are planning to speak to a lawyer before she departs home, but, would love to hear if anyone on this board has similar circumstances.
Any info, much appreciated.
Regards, David
