Hi,

I received by PR card in 2012. on my last trip to asia, the immigration officer did mention that I look a lot different from the pic on the PR card since I have lost almost 30 lbs and have really short hair.

is it possible to get a PR reissued with a latest photo. if yes
1) do I have to send in my PR card along with my application
2) is there a charge to this process

I tried to look online for some sort of info but couldn't find any. I even tried calling the 1-888 number but its just automated voice that repeats says to check the website

any advise on this would be much appreciated

thanx

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

According to the Request to Reissue a Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) form, in order to get a PR card re-issued it must be,

... if you received a Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) containing incorrect information and this error was made by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

Further down in the application it states that this also applies to photo issues.

In terms of holding a valid PR card, according to the Applying for a Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) - Initial application, replacement or renewal (IMM 5445) - Guide,

Do not apply for a renewal of your current PR card if it is still valid for more than six (6) months (180 days), unless it is due to a legal name change. Otherwise, your application will be returned.

As per the Applying for a Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) - Initial application, replacement or renewal (IMM 5445) - Guide it states that you should not apply for renewal if it is still valid for more than 6 months.

You may want to continue to try to contact the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly for confirmation and clarification of this information.

It is possible to get through. If you listen to the options, choose the option related to PR cards and then press "0".

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
