Canada vs Australia to Immigrate

I have applied for Federal Skilled Worker program introduced by Canada and Australia. So, I have been waiting for the visas and I think that I will be granted for the Canadian Visa by the end of June, 2015.
I am a Civil/Structural Engineer with almost 10 years of experience and also hold a PhD form one of the top-ranked Iranian universities. Canada and Australia seem attractive to me but I think I need further as well as reliable information to come to a conclusion. I think someone who has relative experiences in both countries can help me. I think that my expectations and goals can help you to post your comments and point of views. My expectations are:
1- Job opportunities and availability of careers for newcomers. 2- Recognition my academic and work backgrounds (experiences). 3- General economic conditions of both countries. 4- Geography and weather conditions. 5- Diversity, racism and culture of both societies. 6- The ratio of expenditures to income. 7- Health Care programs, taxes, insurance plans and loans provided from financial institutions or banks. 8- Offers and plans provided by local as well as federal government for citizens.
I would be very grateful if you could help me with your comments regarding the topic. If there are any other key factors that are neglected, please add them to my expectations.
Thanks

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
As you may have noticed, Settlement.Org is a website that provides information for newcomers in Ontario, Canada. Therefore, we are not able to give you much information about other provinces or countries. We invite users who have lived in other areas to share their experiences with you.
When you are making your decision, you may also want to keep in mind that some of the factors you are considering such as labour market conditions, benefits, social norms, laws and weather can differ widely within Canada. If you are interested in living in Ontario, the article Where should I live in Ontario? may be helpful.
With regards to employment, since you are an engineer, you will need to become licensed to work in Ontario. You can find information about this process in the Where can I find career maps for trades and regulated professions? article.
For general information on employment and living costs in Ontario, you may find the following articles useful:
Where can I get my international credentials evaluated for employment?
How hard is it to find work in Ontario?
How can I find information about salaries?
What are the monthly living expenses for a family of 3?
For general information on living in Ontario you may want to visit the Health and Daily Life sections of Settlement.Org.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
Good luck with your preparations to immigrate either to Canada or Australia. == Julia Settlement.Org team

I found "settlement.org", your website, very useful. Are there any similar websites for other provinces particularly Alberta?

Hi There,
Thank you very much for the kind words. We love getting such positive feedback from users.
You may find it helpful to read our Where can I find help in other provinces and cities in Canada? article. There are a few resources to access in Alberta:
Alberta-Canada Immigration - This website is run by the government of Alberta.
Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies (AAISA) - AAISA member agencies provide settlement programs and services for immigrants and refugees in Alberta.
Inform Alberta - Alberta's province-wide on-line directory. The site contains general info about community, health, social, and government services across the province. Find a list immigrant settlement services in Alberta.
You can also find information on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
