I recently was served an eviction notice. I know the other tenants in my building and when I went to tell them that my husband and son where movies g they told me they knew all about it, that the landlords management company told them everything about me losing my job and not being able to make my rent and that they had the eviction papers and that they wanna call facs and try and take my son. Can they legally talk to the tenants about my situation? What should I do??

Hi Silla,

Thanks for sharing your question and situation with us. We can appreciate that this is an emotional and frustrating time for you.

The agent we spoke with at the Landlord and Tenant Board suggested that you may wish to file a Form T2 - Application About Tenant Rights with them because what your landlord's doing is considered harassment and they are interfering with your reasonable enjoyment of your apartment.

You may also wish to contact a community legal clinic in your area to discuss your rights in this matter. You can find other legal resources in your area by calling 211 for free referrals and information.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
