Hi

I just got the federal immigration visa. May I land in Montreal( to visit a family member), but give an address in Toronto at the airport to receive my PR card? I will anyhow live in Toronto.

Thank you very much

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your question and situation with us.

We have had other users ask similar questions in some of our previous Landing in Montreal but destination is Ontario discussion threads

Here is an excerpt from one of our threads related to this topic,

There are 2 different questions here - 1. one about moving to quebec after landing and establishing permanent residency in Canada and 2. landing in Quebec without a CSQ.

One important thing to know is that Quebec has a special immigration process and has more control over the selection, landing, and settlement of immigrants to who to that province. So, in general, if you are not selected under the Quebec immigration process, it is easier to land elsewhere in Canada.

1. Canadian Permanent Residents have full mobility rights.

This means that, unless you are otherwise legally restricted (bail, bond, etc.), you can move to any city or province in Canada and live wherever you wish. However, as a new immigrant you may not have access to some of the Quebec-funded services for immigrants that come to that province via their provincial selection process.

You can find information and contacts for the government of Quebec immigration department here:
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/anglais

2. Landing in Quebec without a CSQ.

Landing in Montreal without a CSQ
http://www.settlement.org/discuss/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7212

According to CIC, if you do not have a Certificat de Selection (CSQ) or proof of onward transportation out of Quebec, you will most likely have difficulties in "landing" there. The main problem is that this decision is at the discretion of immigration officials at the port of entry in Quebec. If you have indicated a non-Quebec destination but try to land in Quebec, you might have problems at the border, since Quebec has the provincial authority to choose its own immigrants, and has a somewhat different immigration process.

Again, if you do have to land in Quebec without a CSQ, you should be able to show that you are continuing on to a destination outside Quebec.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Hi All,

Currently I am working from India in a Software Company and providing services as a Vendor to my Client which is an Investment Bank who has their office in Montreal, Quebec province.

I hope to get my PR in next couple of months.

My question is around getting a first job in Montreal, Quebec via current Software Company in India for my current client an Investment Bank.

Am I eligible to land and work for my 1st job on PR in Montreal, Quebec ? or do I need to land first time outside Quebc ?
Do I need a valid job offer before landing in Quebec on PR ?
will I be eligible to get Medical and other services from Quebec province on NON-Quebec PR ?

thank you.

1. Yes, but you probably should consider having your COPR extended if the Border is still closed to non essential travel See:
Approved permanent resident applicants with expired or expiring documents If we already approved your permanent resident application but you can't travel to Canada before your documents expire, use the Web form to tell us why you can’t travel.
Once it’s possible for you to travel, use the Web form to let us know so we can tell you what to do next.

2. If you arrive in Canada, you will have to go into isolation for 14 days, if you don;t have a viable isolation plan, you will not be admitted. Directly to isolation, no stopping for shopping.
3 You can no longer apply for a SIN in person, you have to do it by mail.

Hi.

My family applied under the Quebec Investor immigration and have been approved and currently have just got our requests for medicals to be done.

I would like to land at Toronto Pearson Airport (we get special privileges along with extra weight if flying by EVA Air which does not go to Montreal) and after quarantine, we would like to drive over to Montreal for complete the formalities like getting our SIN card etc. Is this possible? I also will be traveling with a pet cat and would like to leave Whiskers with friends in Toronto before moving on to Montreal. We do intend to reside in Quebec eventually just that initially we would like to land at Toronto.

Any assistance is sincerely appreciated.
