Hi everyone,

Just want to share my situation regarding secondary review. I sent my application for renewal last year Nov.06, 2015. On Feb. 23, 2016 I received a correspondence letter from them saying they got my application. Feb.24, 2016 they started processing my application. On Mar.3, 2016 my application has been moved to secondary delay. I called them last month of September, but they advised me to just wait. It's going to be 1 year next month that I sent my application. Does anybody had the same situation like me, 11months and counting? I hope it wouldn't reach 13months processing.

Hello,

I had been waiting for 14 months from the time i submit my application.

I am very worried because my non Canadian passport expiring June 30, 2017. I need to go back to my country by end of December to renew my passport ( passport must be valid 6 months at time of travel).

Can someone tell me how do you know that your application is in secondary review? To date, my online application status is still showing "In Process"

Jul 8, 2015 CIC received my PR renewal application.
Dec 11, 2015 They sent me a correspondence acknowledging receipt of my application and started processing my application.
They also sent me correspondence requesting photocopy of my passport, boarding passes and airline tickets - to support the
number of days I had been in Canada and out of the country.
Dec 22, 2015 Supporting documents were courier and received by the Sydney Processing Centre.

Thanks.

I think my application has been delayed the most. CIC received my application in September 2015 and started processing it in February 2016. In may 2016 I sent them an email enquiring about the status of my application to which they replied that my file has been sent to the Client Service Unit for review which will result in an additional delay. Last month I sent them another email expressing concerns so as to why I still haven't received my pr card to which they replied that the processing times are just an approximation. I really hope that I get my pr card by Christmas coz I was planning on meeting my gf's family.

I am also in a situation - I had applied for my PR Card renewal in July 2015. On December 15th, 2015 they told me that they had received it, and the website status said IN PROCESS. I called again in June after waiting several months, and was told that it was still in process. I was told today that it had been sent for secondary review. It has been 16 months now, since I have applied! This is a crazy amount of time to have passed, and I have not received any correspondence regarding any additional documentation that was needed, or anything like that. I am not sure what to do - the calls to CIC yeild no information, and I feel stuck. Travel is so much more difficult, and this uncertainty is horrible.

PR card application sent March 2016, secondary review letter received end of May 2016. Renewed PR card received End of Jan 2017. Note that during this time scale no extra information was requested by CIC.

What if I decide to leave the country while waiting? It seems like there is no exception even if you want to go for an urgent matter?

I left while I was waiting for my card to be renewed - I had to go to the local Canadian embassy/consulate to get a PR Travel Document. This can take upto 2 weeks though, and it allows you to re-enter Canada. Otherwise, I hear you can cross over into Canada by car with your landing document, instead of your PR card. However, I got a PR Travel Doc, which looks like a visa in your passport.
