Hello,

As far as I am aware children born in Canada are citizens, and this is not dependent on parents immigration status.
If you are the parents of a Canadian born child, are you automatically eligible for citizenship? I cannot find any answers to this question and would love to hear other peoples experiences.
Thanks in advance.

No - you are not eligible for citizenship automaticaly because you have a Canadian born child. You aren't even eligible automatically for permanent residency.

Once your Canadian child is an adult, they can apply to sponsor you for permanent residency. To qualify to sponsor you, they will also need to be living and working in Canada and have made enough money for at least three years to meet the Low Income Cut Off for sponsoring parents.
