Hello - We (me and wife) are moving to Toronto in July this year. We figured out that my wife is 1 month pregnant. Now, I do understand that for the first 3 months after landing in Toronto, I will not have insurance. However, I wanted to check:
1. After 3 months, when we apply for OHIP, will it cover my wife's pregnancy expenses? 2. For the first three months, is there any option for private insurance which can help in meeting the initial expenses?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Regards...

1. Yes - after the three months waiting period your wife will qualify for OHIP and pregnancy expenses will be covered. 2. You will have to pay for all of the costs related to the pregnancy on your own for the first three months. There are private insurance policies available - but they have to be purchased before the person being insured is pregnant. So unfortunately it's too late for you and your wife to benefit.
