WE are new permanent residence of Canada. My wife has worked for insurance companies for several years. We are wondering what certificate or education is required in Canada to work for insurance companies.

Is there a university degree (bachelors or masters) for insurance?

Hello S.T,

Thank you for sharing your wife's situation and question with us.

It is great that you are looking into this type of information.

You mentioned that your wife worked for insurance companies for several years.

If she worked as an Insurance adjuster or is interested in working as/becoming a fully licenced adjuster, you can find detailed information on what is required start working in the field of Insurance Adjuster on the Canadian Independent Adjusters' Association website in the Careers and Qualifications section.

For further information on what her options are in Ontario, you may want to contact the Ontario Insurance Adjuster Association (OIAA) for additional information on the process.

It may also be helpful to contact an organization near you that can help her look into what her options are or look into different programs.

You can also find some information in our Settlement.Org Why should I get help to find work? article.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
