Hi,
I am completely stressed and need help.
I intend to apply for immigration to Canada under the Express Entry system for which my NOC is in-demand. However, a wrong assessment of my qualifications by WES can completely ruin my future.
I have more than 15+ years of post-qualification experience in high-profile corporates, at senior management positions.
My qualifications (from India) are from a leading University: Bachelors in Science: 3 years, full-time, and Masters in Science: 2 years, full-time
As per the free online assessment on the WES Canada website, my qualifications are assessed to a Bachelors degree (4 years) + 1 year graduate study (not a Masters).
THIS IS SO VERY WRONG AND INCORRECT.
I have compared my M.Sc. degree with the same degree offered by Canadian Colleges/Universities, even the subjects are the same, 2 years degree program, project/thesis, etc
So why is my M.Sc. degree reduced to a '1 year graduate study' BUT a M.Sc. from a Canadian college is considered to be a Masters degree?
I got admission for M.Sc. at the Department on the University campus (which is a premier place to study for an M.Sc.) after being selected through a National All India selection process. It was not easy
The course, curriculum and technical research offered directly by the Department, University campus where I studied is far superior than the regular M.Sc. programs offered by colleges in India.
I am afraid to get my qualifications assessed by WES. Also, from what I have read, WES Canada is not people-friendly, they do not have customer support to provide advice.
If I proceed with getting my qualifications assessed by WES Canada (based on this wrong online assessment) then the number of points for immigration is reduced due to which I am unable to apply under FSW although my skills/work experience are in demand in Canada.
I have not yet sent my transcripts/degrees to WES. Please advise what other documents and explanations I should provide so that WES Canada does NOT give a standard (ONE-DEGREE-ONE STANDARD WRONG ASSESSMENT of my qualifications. In effect, this is ruining my opportunity to immigrate to Canada.
btw the same qualifications on the counter WES USA website gives me a Masters degree assessment. How can WES assess my qualifications differently for the US and Canada?
Also, I turned down opportunities to do a PhD after my M.Sc.degree at top research institutes which have international partnerships. None of these research institutes would have accepted me for a PhD program if my M.Sc. degree is as worthless as deemed by WES Canada.
Is CES Toronto better qualified/more competent/more knowledgeable in assessing Indian qualifications than WES?
Do let me know what supporting documents I should provide even from the University Chancellor and the University Department so that WES does not assess my qualifications wrongly
Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks so much

Your WES assessment is most likely correct based on the information you have provided. Keep in mind that your qualifications are being assessed based on what the equivalent education would be in Canada.
In Canada, Bachelor degrees are 4 years (not 3). For this reason it's actually quite common for Master's degrees from India to not be counted as a separate / complete degree. Having said that, you can certainly ask WES for a reassesment. Before you do that, I would recommend you search a few more forums on the web to see how others with similar degrees have been evaluated by WES.
Based on how your education has been assessed today, you will recieved points under Express Entry for the completed Bachelor degree. Unfortunately you won't receive any points for the one year of graduate study.
Hope this helps.

I did Bachelor of science in nursing (4 year) full time and masters of arts in psychology (2 year) via distance education.
Please tell me, whether my education degrees will be considered as bachelor only or equivalent to masters in Canada?

Hi,
Please advise:
1) How would WES Canada assess a 6 months diploma which is done after graduation(full time 3 years). Would it be equivalent to a completed post secondary education in Canada? 2) How will a ONE YEAR PG diploma from Pune University be evaluated? Would it be equivalent to a completed post secondary education in Canada? 3) Can I claim points under "Two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years." as show in the CRS calculator with the above listed qualifications.
Any help/suggestion would be highly appreciated.

My report results state my Canadian education equivalency as bachelor's degree 3 and 4 years respectively...however many of my colleagues from same batch and institution have been accredited with "one year post graduate diploma" Either this is an error on WES part or there is no standardized yardstick for such a reputed organization like WES,which is concerning as this can jeopardize careers of aspiring candidates.

Hi,
I got my MBA(distance education) from ICFAI, Sikkim University assessed by WES Canada, early in 2018. My ECA report mentioned that the university is non-recognized.
Only recently I became aware from my University and other classmates that the MBA from same Institute has been evaluated by WES as equivalent to one year PG diploma as per Canadian standards, because the students were given new transcripts with credits and CGPA, also since the university is sending the transcripts directly to WES.
I explained my situation to WES and asked them if I can get an upgrade. in this order they accepted my documents unlike the first time. But on date of completion, they cancelled it stating it is not a new credential. And later they explained that I could get a course by course evaluation of only I used it for education.
I have been requesting them to reconsider my initial order ##### With documents shared in the upgrade order and provide a unbiased report. there has been no response at all. Kindly help me with this scenario.
I have waited two years, to get my MBA accessed right for Immigration purpose.

Hi,
I got my BLS/LLB (5 years) degree (Bachelor of Legal Sciences and Bachelor of Laws) evaluated from WES. My WES report states canadian equivalency as "Dual bachelor's degree (four years)". However, I have come across other applicants with same credential and same institution awarded canadian equivalency as "First professional degree in law (Juris doctor)". I fail to understand why is this discrepancy?

Hi,
I am facing a big problem here.... I will be 40 in May 2020 and lose another 5 points in 2 months!
IMM where i did my PGDBM is recognised by AICTE, however, my degree or mark sheets does not mention the words "recognised by AICTE" anywhere on them. Hence, my full time PGDBM is now from a non recognised institute. I had raised the query with WES and got the below reply.
We have reviewed your evaluation report and confirmed that it is correct. Your documents (degree certificate and/or mark sheets) do not clearly state that the specific program you completed is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). WES requires a clear statement on your degree certificate or mark sheets that the program you completed is approved by AICTE. We would like to emphasize that World Education Services (WES) evaluations are advisory opinions and not binding upon any institution or organization.
I have contacted my institute and asked them for help as well... Due to this my score is below 310 now What can I expect as a worst case scenario.
any words of advice ?

Dissatisfaction about Masters degree assessment by WES:
Dear Sir,
I am totally dissatisfied about my MBA degree assessment where WES shows 4 years "bachelor" degree!! This decision will ruin my future as it is reducing my points while applying for Saskatchewan province. How can WES did this, I really don't know and I am afraid about their fake assesment. I am in need your help.
I completed my graduation from University of Madras and WES showed 3 years Bachelor 's degree. That's fine with me.
I completed MBA from a Bangladesh govt. approved recognized university (WES also confessed that in the assessment report) and I had completed 60 credits. Don't know how WES assess the degree! They wrote it's a 'Bachelor's degree' of 4 years!
Please give me suggestions what should I do now.
Best Regards. Chowdhury Tanbir Ahmed
