Hello Ryan,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
The answer is yes, you should be still able to sponsor your spouse. However, you are will have to demonstrate how you will support your spouse in Canada without any income. You cannot be receiving social assistance other than for reasons of disability.
We suggest that you contact the the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre directly for some additional information regarding your situation and your application.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

The situation is this, I come to Canada two weeks ago from Venezuela where I had my work, I decided to come to Canada with my 2 children, aged 11 and 9 years who are also Canadian citizens to sponsor my wife from here, because currently in Venezuela there is no Canadian embassy, I am currently living my father's house with my 2 children who are already enrolled in school for the NEXT school year, I have been participating in some workshops to get a job as soon as possible in employment services centre but it says that the process takes about a month and a half, but I want to start the sponsorship process as soon as possible, so that my wife and youngest son to meet me and the children.
So what would be the best steps to take to make the process as fast as possible.
