Hi,
I have a question regarding mandatory vaccinations for school going kids.

My son was born in December,2009.

We will be landing at Toronto in March,2016.

That is , we will be seeking admission in Elementary school for my son (aged 6 years).
What I understand from information on the internet is that the following are the mandatory vaccines
Diptheria
Tetanus
Polio
Measles
Mumps
Rubella
Pertussis
Meningococcal
Varicella

Out of these, Varicella is mandatory for children born in 2010 and later.

The first dose for Meningococcal starts at 12 years.

So based on this information, both Varicella and Meningococcal are not required for my kid for school admissions.

Can someone please confirm if my understanding is correct.
Thanks in advance

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and questions with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in finding out some information regarding this before arriving.

You can find some information in our Settlement.OrgWhat immunizations does my child need? article.

In terms of specific and detailed information regarding what is required and when, you can find some specific information on the IImmunization Schedules for Ontario – October 2015. This also shows the information you have stated.

Once you arrive, you may also want to contact the nearest Public Health Unit for some specific information and confirmation.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
