How to apply, processing time, if you're outside of Canada...
Change of Last Name

I got my passport renewed in 2013 before i applied for my Permanent Residency.
The passport office at the time of renewal messed up my last name.
Because of that my middle name is now my last name on my passport.
I didn't get it corrected at that time.
I got my PR in 2015 and my PR card has the same name as my passport.
I am currently outside Canada and because of some circumstances it is imperative that I get my name changed on my Passport.
The problem is that if I get it changed on my passport I will have to get it changed on my PR card too.
This can cause an issue when i re-enter Canada.
My first question is:
How do I get my name changed on the PR card after I have changed it on my passport while living outside of Canada?
Second question is:
Will they change it? since it is not a legal name change!
Third and last question is:
Can i still enter Canada using this Card and get it changed while Im there?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
Generally, the information on your PR card is taken from the information found on your Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
Since it was taken from a mistake already made on your passport, it is not likely that it will be considered an administrative error. Errors will be corrected if they were administrative errors made by the department in recording your personal information.
It is best if you try to contact the nearest Visa Office and the CIC Call Centre once you are back in Canada to find out what your options are.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
