Hi,I am new to Canada (PR). Through Settlement.org, I found the nearest LINC course (Barrie) is almost 1 hour away from where I live. I don't want LINC home study, which the interaction with teacher is way too less, 30 minutes a week (I heard that, not sure it is correct). CIC website said some training centers provide transportation assistance for those who qualify for that. What is the eligibility? How can I apply ? I really want to go to school... I hope someone here could help me.

Hello Pauline,
Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.
Regarding your question about transporation assistance, generally, it is the ultimate responsibility of the Training Provider to determine if candidates qualify for transportation assistance, where it is available.
It may be best if you contact the nearest LINC Assessment Centre for some information and an assessment.
You can contact them here:
Barrie: Centre for Education & Training at the Bayfield Mall - Barrie Career Centre 320 Bayfield Street Barrie, ON L4M 3C2 Tel: 1-855-330-8655 Web: www.tcet.com/assessments
You may also want to dial 211 to speak to an Information and Referral Specialist. They should be able to provide you with some additional information and referrals.
211 is a free service that is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
