Me and my wife are Canadian citizen also my 6 years old daughter born in Canada. My wife went back home to take care of her mother past 3 months and now she decided to stay overseas possibly over one year even more, and my daughter stays with her mom, so here is my question: is my daughter still eligible to receive child tax benefit? If yes until when? If not what should I do?

Hi Simon,
Thanks for sharing your situation. The best option to clarify your issue is to call CRA to get an authentic answer.

Hello Simon,

Thank you for sharing your wife's situation with us.

We can appreciate that you would be interested in this type of information.

It is best if you contact the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) directly at the Universal child care benefit, Canada child tax benefit line here:

1-800-387-1193 (Canada and United States)

to see if they can help you determine eligibility.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.
