Father's Date of Birth

I have incorrectly assumed the date of birth for my father who died in 2007 at the age of 86 in Ontario.
This is asked for in IMM 5440 when sponsoring a family member from abroad. I do not want or need a birth certificate, just a confirmation of the correct date of birth which I believe I am wrong by a day or two at present.
I have great fear this may turn into 6-8 week expensive bureaucratic shuffle. Oh dear
